Policies & Procedures

2024-2025 Policies & Procedures

as of June 1, 2024
Registration/Tuition/Make-up Policy

A non-refundable annual fee of $40 per student is required per dance-year (August-July) and will be processed with your first month of tuition. Annual Enrollment Fee is paid per student upon initial registration and every year thereafter (based on current rates) that the student is enrolled in classes.

The tuition is based on an 11.5-month program, Mid-August through the end of July. Tuition is divided into 12 payments (1/2 month for August and 11 equal monthly installments from September through July). Even though some months have 3 weeks, other months have 5 weeks, it averages out over the course of the 11.5-month program. There is a two-month enrollment minimum for all classes.

Missed classes may be made up within a two-week period from the time of absence in any age/level appropriate class (style may vary from class in which you are enrolled). Make-up classes may not be used as tuition credit. All makeups must be reserved through our portal system so that you appear on the class roster for that day. If you need assistance in scheduling makeups, please contact us.

Withdrawals & 30-Day Notice

One-month notice is required to discontinue any classes. The withdrawal form on our website must be completed within the first 7 days of the month to be effective for the next month. We will not accept withdrawals over the phone, by email, in person, or with a teacher. Until a withdrawal form is completed, you are financially responsible for the class tuition. Dance/10 reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice. In such a case, a refund for unused lessons will be given. No withdrawals will be accepted after May 1 for June or July classes.

Holidays/Substitutions

Dance/10 does not pro-rate or provide make-ups for holidays listed on our studio calendar. We reserve the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach a class.

Costume Fees

All information regarding costume ordering and recitals will be emailed and posted on our website under our recital section. Students will have the opportunity to opt-out of participating in the recitals. If the opt-out notification is not received by the deadline date, then the payment method on-file will automatically be charged for costume fees on the payment due date, as listed on our studio calendar.

Costumes will not be ordered until full payment has been received. Late orders cannot be guaranteed. Late orders are subject to a $30 single-item shipping & processing fee. Costumes will be passed out to students only if tuition is current.

Costumes are non-refundable.

Dress Code

See the detailed dress code for class-specific requirements on our website. Required dancewear and dance shoes, appropriate to class style, must be worn in all classes. For safety reasons, dancers are not permitted to wear jewelry in class. Cover-ups should be worn to and from the studio; however, they must be removed upon request of the teacher. Failure to wear required dancewear/shoes to class could result in students being asked to sit out of the class.

Care of Students/Attendance/Lateness

Dance/10 is not responsible for providing before- or after-class care for students; children should not arrive any earlier than 5 minutes before class and should not stay any more than 5 minutes after class ends.

For safety reasons, we reserve the right to have students who come late to class sit out of the class. Repeated lateness may result in the termination of lessons. We encourage consistent attendance. The curriculum is ongoing and cumulative. If students miss too many classes, they will fall behind and be frustrated. We understand that conflicts or illness may cause dancers to miss a class, and we have established a make-up policy to address this situation.

No food or drink (other than water) is allowed in the building. No gum. No glass containers.

Safe Space

Dance/10 welcomes all dancers. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing space for all dancers, and this includes the attitudes and actions of our families, teachers, and fellow dancers. Any offensive, violent, aggressive, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated, and we reserve the right to refuse service.

Parent's Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all studio activities, such as recitals, extra classes, and studio open and close dates. Information will be posted on bulletin boards in the lobby and sent via email. It is the parent’s responsibility to regularly check this information to ensure they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parents or adult students to update any email address, mailing address, or telephone number information in the portal.

Payment of Fees/Refunds

For your convenience, Dance/10 Performing Arts Center accepts tuition via electronic funds transfer (EFT) directly from your bank account or credit card (visa or mastercard).

Any adjustments to the payment method on file must be made prior to the last day of the month to affect the next payment cycle.

Tuition fees are processed via the payment method on-file on the:

  • 15th day of the month for August.
  • 1st day of each month from September-July.

The final deduction for the dance year will occur on July 1st. Payment must be made by pre-authorized automatic monthly payment. Incidental fees such as retail purchases, recital tickets, etc. are not automatic payments and must be paid by check, cash, or credit card. There is also a $30.00 fee for returned checks or declined automatic payments (EFT or Credit Card).

All fees are non-refundable unless a class is canceled by Dance/10. In the event that Dance/10’s programs are canceled or Dance/10’s method of instruction is altered (including but not limited to remote live and prerecorded video instruction) in order to comply with the directives or guidance issued by public authorities related to public health concerns, there will be no refund of tuition fees for the month in which the programs are canceled or alternate form of instruction is implemented. In the event that public health concerns necessitate the cancellation or rescheduling of recitals, any recital fees, and costume fees will not be refunded.

My daughter has been dancing since she was 3 years old. Now at age 11 she has really come to her own as a dancer. At Dance/10 she is not restricted to taking only one type of dance she has the option to participate in all forms of dance.
